The Deposit Insurance Corporation (DIC), or “the Corporation”, is an independent entity established under Section 5 of the Deposit Insurance Act 2018, which commenced operations in April 2019.
With technical assistance from the World Bank, the DIC was established to strengthen financial stability and depositor protection. The DIC serves as the corporate body responsible for protecting small depositors in Guyana and assisting with facilitating a smooth winding-up process for troubled financial institutions.
The DIC is currently housed in the Bank of Guyana building.
