Commemorative Coin – 1970

Better known as the “Cuffy Dollar” this coin was designed by Guyanese Patric Munroe and features Cuffy who led the first slave revolt in 1763 in Berbice.


 Enmore Martyrs -1976

This $50 coin features the profile of the five heroes who sacrificed their lives in 1948 while demonstrating for better working conditions for all sugar workers. Their names: Lallabagee, Kissoon, Pooran, Rambarran & Dookhie.


10th Independence Anniversary Coin

Minted in commemoration of 10 years of independent rule in Guyana, these coins were issued in denominations of:

  • 1 and 5 cents in copper-zinc-tin
  • 10, 25 & 50 cents, 1, 5 &10 dollars in copper nickel
  • $100 in .500 fine gold

Royal Visit 1994

Commemorating the Royal visit to Guyana in February 1994 by her Majesty the Queen accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. 

  • $50 and $500 in .925 sterling silver and 916.7 gold respectively.

Minted in commemoration of Guyana’s hosting of the tenth Caribbean Festival of Arts which took place from August 22-31, 2008.


     BOG 50th
Anniversary- 2015

The Bank of Guyana celebrates its 50th Anniversary on October 15th, 2015, under the theme “Promoting Financial Development for Guyana’s Prosperity”. In celebration a gold-plated silver coin was minted by the Mint of Norway.
